I study the diversity in a integrative view from the genetic, morphological and behavioral levels and also at the ecological, phylogeographical, and biogeographical aspects that explain its actual distributions. In particular, I am focused on a highly diverse group of Neotropical amphibians, the direct-developing frogs that have a wide diversification in South and Middle America, mainly in the Andes. Unfortunately, some frogs are under high pressures of extinction caused by different triggers, some natural and other from anthropogenic actions. The understanding of the origin of biodiversity and the history of its distribution could support us to lead direct conservation actions.
